“On Objects Lost” is a collection of short readings by various authors on aspects of design as a medium, laid out and styled by me. Since these short readings stand independently of each other, I wanted to focus heavily on the tab mechanic within the book, as this would be a driving factor in how people digest content that does not need to be read front to back like a novel. Aesthetically, I chose to focus on the ephemeral nature of consumer design, and how practicality and quality can make an object stand the test of time in a throwaway culture. This echoes not only themes found within the reading, but my personal values when it comes to the philosophy of good design, and what that looks like in the real world.
